January 01 Jauary Sun...a new beginning!Well, well...a new year has come and with it new hopes and expectations. It's been a long long time since last wrote in the blog but a lot of things have happened, good and bad, and I felt that now was the time to start all over again. With that in mind, let me tell you that I'm back on EDM music scene and soon I'll have a biweekly show at www.bpm.fm that I'll probably call Sounds of Trance. Very simple and straight forward really but I just felt that there is really new and exciting music out there right now for me to share with people. I'll keep you posted with more info on the show.
The metal keeps on flowing and now that Metalicos is the official site of the Iron Maiden concert here on the 26th of February, things could not have been much better for the page. Traffic has increased tremendously and we are already in the top 100,000 in Alexa
Life seems to be full of unexpected turns and challenges. I kinda like it that way. BTW, to a lady out there that has been lost in time and distance, I found something that I realize it's true...
"Now that I see...
The fields of hope are painted
by the tears! They always show the garden of the seers." Back to music news, I'm also part of a live radio show on the net called Metal Sin Fronteras that is being hosted by a wonderful guatemalan page called www.rockrepublik.net Check them out and tune into the station at www.rkradio.net Mondays from 8-10pm Central Time US for a couple of hours of metal, hard rock and good ole time!
Also, for electronic dance news on myself, check out myspace page: www.myspace.com/djrobmendoza
I would like to leave you with a beautiful rhyme I found...here's to all of you, Nightwalkers ;-)
"Shine on the gods here in silence
Mine is the shade one more time I walk the night impaled by Cyrus Under the moon I'll be by your side!!" Happy 2008 and may all your dreams come true!!
Robbie March 19 I'm ready, ready for thunder!!Wow what a birthday it was!!
Things are moving along nicely and there is always something amazing about life that keeps reminding me that I'm on the right path of self discovery, of spiritual awakening. Feeling the energy of the Universe embracing as I give back all the love that I'm given. I'm ready...ready for thunder!!
And as always, people...
...Be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid of anything!
Rob March 13 Supremacy, Our KindIt's been a while since I last left traces of my presence in the blog. A few thing have happened since my last entry so I wanted to keep everyone on the loop about things.
First off, the sad news. I had to end up a relationship that I had for about a year now with a wonderful person. It's a bit strange that things ended the way they did but I had no choice. We were not in touch anymore and she never had the time for it. I don't blame her really since I know that she just had other things in her mind. It was no one's fault. I love her very much and I wish her the best. She's an extraordinary person and I know that she will be able to find her place in life. It is my most desired wish for her. As for yours truly, this was another exciting opportunity to live and grow...ahh, the neverending learning. That's what makes us evolve and become better people and I welcome the experience with open arms. Supremacy, Our Kind!
In other areas, myspace page has really let me get in touch with a bunch of people in the music business and I have been able to become pen pals with musicians that I have admired and also get exposed to new music out there! For any of you that has not checked it out, here's the URL: www.myspace.com/robmendoza Don't be a shy and pay me a visit ;)
The web station is doing good and we are maintaining a good audience at the moment. I am also getting involved with Paul in bringing the RockArte show back to the airwaves via Radio U. It's an exciting period in my life and coupled with my impending move to my new home, it all points to a great time in the near future!
I leave you with these beautiful lyrics from Pagan's Mind. They are inspiring and I believe fully in the goodness of mankind. We can make a change, little by little.
Everyone, God bless and remember...be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid of anything!
"Awakened
From embrace of sorrow Heal the spirit deep inside Call the new era tomorrow We will unite as one And signs will unfold Always searching for the Key they lost Finding true life`s essence Uniqueness of our Kind And we travelled Drawn back in time To our endless dream Led by starlight Horizons of hope Calling from within" Rob January 16 The Falcon's CryOh well, it's been a fun time right now for me. I have the house already and feeling really good about being a homeowner! It's abeen a long road to get here but I'm glad I did this. Things are moving along nicely and I hope I am able to move in by the middle of February as I'm adding a terrace. It's going to look spectacular, that's for sure! Got to listen to the new record by Zero Hour and I was happy to see that I can still get excited about new music out there. That's the beauty of it...it never dies! :)
So here's a big Hell Yeah! to all my family, friends and all around cool people out there!!
Be safe, be happy...and don't let anybody make you afraid! :)

January 11 Carry on my Wayward Son!Today it has been a strange day. As the day draws near when they are going to deliver my house, things turn weird. For starters, at work one of my co-workers decides to make fun of my heritage in my face and left me cold. I just pity the woman, I really do. Then, a good friend of mine decides to stand me up for the second time as if nothing has happened. What can I say? It has been that kind of a day. People take you for granted, it's a fact. At least you get to learn which people are REALLY worth it and which are not. To top it all off, my mother is sick with the flu and feeling terrible. Oh well, you have to take the highs with the lows. That's what life is all about. It's that simple. You pick yourself up and you keep going...I may not like it but that's how the world turns.
So for those who made me feel like crap today...your word isn't worth more than puke in the dust!! BETRAYER!!
And to those I love...
Be safe, be happy...and don't let anybody make you afraid of anything!!
Rob January 03 Inside the Monster 2007!It's been eons since I updated the website so what a better way to break in the new year than to leave an update and some pics of my new home to be! This has been a dream of mine for quite a while and finally, it's coming true! So here you have some pics...enjoy. I have a feeling this 2007 it's going to be a hell of a year!!
Be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid! :)
Robbie
September 19 OK Corral!Well, the party's back so hide all your valuables and lock your refrigerators!
Seriously, it's good to be back writing something about what's going on in my life and what the future holds. First off, let me say that I finally got my computer back after a long week without it. Some lightining strike ripped thorugh my network card but I'm back in business. The station was doing real well until the computer problem arose so we dropped from 721 total listening hours to 501. The important thing is that I'm updating the playlist as we speak and I hope to have the new shows back on the air for the upcoming weeks.
Secondly, I have been going through some heavy duty periodontal work and even though it hurts like a kick to the face, the end result is all that counts. This is something that I should have taken care of a long time ago and I'm glad I'm doing it now. I promise I will never let my mouth get this bad ever again. Health is life's most vital commodity...take care of it!!
Along with that, I would like to say that we should all take care of ourselves, in every single way possible...you know why? Because no one else would care but you!! You are your own best friend...it's one of the most basic truths out there. Pampering yourself should be a golden rule in all of our lives.
Well, thats' all for now and as always...
Be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid! :)
Rob August 26 Back to the CityWell, the time has come for another update on this adventure I call "My Life" :)
First off, I couldn't be more happier with the response we've had so far with the Statiom. Over 600 listening hours this month so far and I hope I can reach the thousands by year's end. It's going to be tough but I believe it will be worth it if we can make it happen. I want us to become the best metal station in Latin America and I sincerely think we can be in the top 10 if we put our backs into it. I am already planning to have some shirts done for the station so we'll see how that goes ;)
On other news, football still doesn't catch my attention yet and I don't know if it'll happen soon or not. I am still shocked for what happened in the World Cup so hopefully I can get out of this slump and get back to enjoying "El deporte mas bello del mundo".
At work things are going ok and there many big plans ahead in my life at the moment. The biggest one is the purchase of my house. This has got to be one of the best things happening to me at the moment and I couldn't be happier. It's like a dream unfolding, you know? Anyways, I'll let you know how things turn out.
We'll that's all for now and remember...be safe, be happy and don't let anyone make you afraid!
Robbie
August 13 Into AnotherIsn't it great when life takes you away on different directions and lets you know where you belong? Well, it's been almost a month sin Metalicos.com Radio started and I'm happy to say that we'll probably reach the 350 listening hours for our first month!! I couldn't be more thrilled to be back with rock and roll and leave the electronic music behind which I didn't mind but it was leaving me empty and blue.
The project is looking good so far and we are planning to get some t-shirts done and two radio shows from Nicaragua want to broadcast with us, so I am really excited. It's a bit of a hard work for me right now but news like these are what makes it all worthwhile.
Everything else is doing ok right now but I'll be asking for vacations really soon since I still haven't taken a week that I have left ;)
BTW, if you like metal and hard rock, visit us at www.metalicos.com ...you won't regret it (hopefully!)
That's all for now and remember...be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid!
Robbie :) July 20 A change of seasonsA change of seasons, indeed. For starters there has been a big change in my life musically, for the past few weeks, rock and roll has been getting back into my life and given me energy to continue. So, with that in mind I am dropping the Trance 101 show and decided to go back to my broadcasting days with 365 and set up Mertalicos.com Radio. If metal and hard rock is your thing, you are free to listen to us at:
http://www.live365.com/stations/robrock1870?play&site=live365
This link will open up the Station's page and the player so you can listen to it. Have fun!!
In other news, I am still saddened with Italy's success and have nothing but total dislike towards that team. As a matter of fact, Barca just bought Zambrotta and as a retaliatory measure, I will not be celebrating nor wearing Barca's shirt this season, even if they win. So, in a way I feel that football for me it's going to be very sad this year. Anyhow, it's just a sport so there'll be other ways to get this frustration out of me.
Life is good so far and I have no complaints. I feel there are so many opportunities out there to learn so much that there is no time to waste! I'll see where this road takes me but for the time being...have a blast people!!
Be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid!
Robbie :) July 11 Thank you, Zidane!!Well...it wasn't an end fit for a legend but he proved me wrong. After watching Italy win the Cup in penalty shots, only one thought remained: "Why zizou, why?" The italian team won but Zidane captured the hearts of the World and Italy left as villians. It could not have been any other way...when a team practices the football that Italy does, it doesn't deserve any praise whatsoever. The fact is that Zidane stole the spotlight from them and even though they lose...the good football, that one that lights the hearts of players throughout this planet, won. They left the pitch as winners against an Italian team that could not beat them, that had to resort to the penalty shootout, that had to rely on luck to win. I can live with that...the world saw that there are still legendary players that can lead their squads to victory or defeat. I was soo wrong...Zidane was the last Legend that I laid eyes on.
Thank you for the memories, thank you for reminding us that football is an art and not a tactic. Do not let this dark spot take away the fact that your road was paved with glory and most importantly...football!
Thank you, Lord Zizou!
Robbie :) June 11 Finally...The World Cup is here!!Oh man...the biggest sporting event in the world started on friday and I'm sooooooooo ecstatic about it!! :) Every four years we wait for this month to crown the new World Champion for the next four years. The eyes of the world are usually watching this and it just seems to bring every one together for once! Anyways...CR started with a 4-2 defeat against Germany. Things are not looking very good in the upcoming match against Ecuador and to be honest, I'm not surprised. I'm still waiting for my team, Brazil, to make its debut on Tuesday. I got my verdeamarehla shirt all ready :)
In other areas, work is doing great as usual and my parents are enjoying their vacation as we speak which is well deserved I may add. Music is doing good and I have a couple of parties that are coming up in July as well as a trip to Guatemala. We'll see how that goes but things are looking up for the time being.
That's all for now, people. Have a blast this WC Month!! :))
Remember...be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid.
Robbie :) May 29 Heads Up (Look out below)!Wow!! It's been a while since I had written something so I thought I might add something for the time to keep you informed of what's going in my life.
First of all, my mom is in Europe at the moment enjoying some vacation time (at last!). This woman has busted her butt for 40 something years now so it was about time for some vacation for her. She'll be all over the place and of course, Barcelona! I'll be getting some goodies from there for sure!
Secondly, the WC 2006 is just around the corner and for one month, all the eyes of the world will be watching what happens in the biggest event in sports. Brasil, the perennial favorite has one of the strongest squads in years so anything short of a championship will be a dissapointment. Of course, my heart belongs to the verde amarehla!! Costa Rica hasn't been looking sharp in the series of friendlies they have benn playing lately and what once was great hope has turned into despair in a couple of days. Not too many people are enthused about our involvement in this WC and sincerely, we don't have too many expectations. We'll see what happens.
Thirdly, there is some sort of rearrangement in my life and my acquaintances...let's say that I'm beginning to drop all of the dead weight. This is something that I go through from time to time so no surprises there. It's just a matter of living and learning, hahahaha!!
Fourth, the music is going real well at this point. The Trance show is still going strong (who would have thought there is an audience of close to a 100 people dowloading the show and a radio station at the north of the country rebroadcasting it!) so I'm happy with that. I do it for the music so if people enjoy it, that's all that matters. In the heavier side of the spectrum, there is some real good metal and hard rock coming out at the moment. Communic and Ted Poley's latests are at the top of my playlist and there's nothing like good ol' rock and roll to heal the soul!! Rock on dudes and dudettes!
Well, that's all for now and remember...
Be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid!
Robbie :) May 17 Football Club Barcelona...Champions League Champions 2005/2006!!!What transpired a few hours ago cannot be simply explained. The team of all my love and affection gave me one of the happiest days in my life. To win the best club competition in the world is something beyond words and they did it the hard way. In just 4 minutes they turned around a game that was heading for disaster. Everyone likes happy endings and, incredibly enough, Barcelona was the star in one of them today. They never gave up even when the odds were against them. They showed great poise, class and an indomitable will to win that it just reflects on the things that make me a proud fan of this team. Today I feel like I have never felt before for I have witnesed a great moment in sports history. The best part of it all is that my team gave it to me. To those people that don't like football, I know you'll never understand this but just let me tell you that it's a big passion that makes you feel great all over. We had gone through 6 years of heartaches and dissapointments but these past two have been everything but sad. They have been filled with great moments, incredible goals and further proof that loyalty, honor and a will to win are the most important things in a team that not only wins games but plays beautifully as well. So, this moment of joy is dedicated to the special people in my life, that know how much I care about them and how much I love this team. I present to you, the 2005/2006 Champions League Champions...Futbol Club Barcelona!! Forca Barca!!
May 14 Sad Weekend!Oh welll...Devils were eliminated today and it just proves that we don't match up really well to this team again. We need to get some defenseman that can shot and someone that can quaterback the power play. Oh well, it was a good run while it lasted. We'll see what happens next year...Go Devils!
This week is the big Barcelona match with Arsenal for the Champions League. It is one of the biggest matches in our history and if we win it I can rightfully say that we are the best club in the world. I hope it happens since I already had a dissapointment with one of my teams so we'll see what happens. Go Barca!
On other news I went to Caro's birthday party yesterday and it was really good to see a few old friends that I hadn't seen in a long time. It's good to see that the spirit of music is still alive with these people and it's quite inspirational. Extra thanks to my good friend, Federico...trance still rules bro! ;)
Even though I have not been feeling well because the way my teams have been performing, it's really good to see that my life is flowing nicely and what it's important takes precedence over what it's not. I love it when it all falls into place! :)
So as I'm sitting here, relaxing and typing these words up for you, listening to some Sonata Arctica and drinking a refreshing beverage, all I can say is...
Be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid!!
Robbie May 03 Pic update!!The pictures for the Kamen Festival and some for Robbie's pics album are up for your enjoyment! :) Long live the Alchemists!I just finished watching Full Metal Alchemist...and I'm in awe and in tears. This is one of the most wonderful series I have ever seen and one of the most emotional stories I have ever encountered. The love of the two brothers is something to behold and it made me reflect on my relationship with mine. It touched me so deeply that I was moved to tears in the end. I cried like a helpless baby when I saw how everything ended. It is a known fact that the best stories make the best movies or anime and this was no exception. It is a long journey indeed but a wonderful one. A journey where people's hearts are touched, new friends are made and lessons are learned. Haven't we all been on this journey as well? Yes, it is called life and we are blessed to live it if only for a little while. It's the flow that we are a part of. One is all, All is one. :)
Infinite love and thanks to all the special people that I have met so far in this journey...you all have a special place in my heart, forever!!
Equivalent Exchange...always...be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid.
Robbie :) May 01 Equivalent ExchangeWow...it's been a while since I've made any contributions to the page but a few things have happened so here it goes...:)
1) Barca to the Final of the UEFA Champions League! Oh my God! I have been waiting almost 12 years for Barca to get there and they have finally done it. It was a togh game against AC Milan but the boys were abke to pull through. Now it's onto May 17th in Paris against Artsenal which promises to be a good one. Winning the CL would be the last trophy we'll need in order to prove that we are the best team in the world!! Forca Barca...Paris, here we come!!
2) The New Jersey Devils are playing thir best hockey that I have seen them play in a while and they are the hottest team in the NHL at the moment. Can they beat the Senators?? That's the question that everybody is asking and is one that we'll soon find out if the Devils are able to make it through the Hurricanes. When the Devils get this hot, that's when they usually make a run for the Stanley Cup so I'm looking really forward to these year's playoffs. I even bought about 80 bucks worth of clothes to support the team. The line of Gionta, Gomez and Parise it's really rocking and Elias, Brylin and Langenbrunner are not doing anything shabby either. We'll see how everything plays out, though. In the meantime...here we go, Devils, here we go!!:)
3) Yesterday was the Annual Anime and Japanese Culture Festival Kamen 2006 here in Costa Rica...man, was that great or what!! Extra special thanks to my good friends Shirley and Evelyn since they are veterans at this and they were able to guide me though the costumes and the stands that were on display that day. I was able to buy a couple of soundtracks and to take some pics with some of my favorite characters. All in all, a wonderful experience and another reason why I love Anime so much...there's nothing like it in the whole world! Long Live the Full Metal Alchemist!:)
On a side note, I have to really get some exercise done. Yesterday, I walked like crazy so my legs are killing me at this moment, jajaja! Better get in shape before I make a real fool of myself any day now :) I'll have the pics for the Festival up and running this afternoon.
4) Finally, I was able to spend a couple of hours with the boys from the staff of metalicos.com. It's amazing that this idea that Paul has had for a while now, has endured so long. It is a testament to the belief and love that he has for this style of music. He has surrounded himself with a bunch of old farts that share that same passion and it;s really good to that the site has prospered in two years time...who would've thought? Anyways, a couple of pics from that meeting we'll also be up.
Well, that's all for now, people...a huge thanks to those people that mean a lot to me in this world of mine, believe me...you do make a difference!
Be safe, be happy...and don't let anybody make you afraid.
Robbie :) April 19 Forca Barca!!!Oh my God, yesterday Barca did what no one thought possible and beat AC Milan 1-0 on the first leg of the CL semifinal. Nothing's over yet though as Milan are a great team and they can beat anybody in the world. still, Barca took a big step towards the final in Paris and I'm really excited for them! Go Barca!!
Be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid!
Robbie April 16 I'm a soul mover!!Well, this weekend has been a time for winding down and relax from all the work put in this week. Yesterday I went over Paul's to chill out, watch some concerts and talk about life in general. We watched the Europe dvd Live form the Dark and I have to say that these guys still have it. The band sounds better than ever and I truly enjoyed the set, a good mix of old and new material. Watched the Glenn Hughes video afterwards (Soulfully in the city of Angels) and this guy just gets better with age! How the hell does he get to sound so black! I mean, he sould have a record out with Motown any day now. He is truly the voice of Rock as he is able to sing in many different styles. Man, I was blown away by it...the Soul Mover himself!!
On other news I have met a couple of cool people this week and I am always grateful for the opportunity to make new friends and to encounter individuals with a great deal of intelligence and finesse.
I am already getting pumped up for the Champions League matchups this coming tuesday and the Barca-Milan clash looks to be a classic in the making. Arsenal-Villareal not so much but it could get interesting as this is the Cahmpions League.
Tomorrow I'll be going to the local derby here in CR between the two most popular teams Liga Deportiva Alajuelense vs Deportivo Saprissa. It promises to be lots of fun even though the level of football cannot even be compared with the level being played in other countries. Oh well, all work and no play makes Rob a dull boy!
Life is going in cruise control at the moment as I'm enjoying music, friends, literature and life in general at a normal pace and without any expectations. I do have goals for the long term but I still live life day to day so everything is good and well. It could be better but why complaint? The other day I was driving down the road and I noticed a homeless man on the street. It made me realize that we should be grateful for what we have and count our blessings whenever possible. Besides, at least I know that if there's one reason I am in this planet it's because we are here to help each other out. Plain and simple.
Well, that's all for now but remember...as always...
Be safe, be happy and don't let anybody make you afraid! ;)
Robbie
P.S: The pics from the Destruction Meet and Greet are up. I't really cool to see my friend Paul all excited as he has been a huge fan of the band for God knows how long! :) |
